Nope. I was just passive #TVP09 follower ;-)

That's a deal. Since Vienna isn't that huge...well...;-) But actually, if we meet ever by coincidence, that would be a great story to tell =)

Ok, I thought you were part of Alex' entourage at the party. I'll tell you the story about my neighbour if we ever meet in real life ;-)

Wooohooo. Finally someone gets my point :-) You're completely right and I am with you in this point. I'd rather read that someone had a great day out skydiving or whaterver than the 205th mashable retweet. That's exactly why I stick with people I find interesting and do not tend to increase my followersize by just adding some of the so called "social media gurus".

actually I'd love to read about your half naked neighbour. 'cause that's something I consider kinda funny (well, I guess) - like I'd tell you about partner swaping at club danube (uhm.. ;-) ). And unfortunately we have not met at TVP09 Party since I had some visitors from Berlin and therefore had to spent my time with "touristic highlights"

I get your point, some people are really abusing the idea of status updates. I just don't like how it all (especially Twitter) is turning into only sharing links and promoting your stuff platforms. Cause really, I'd rather read that you're having a great day than yet another retweet of some social media statistics. Sometimes I feel like there's only social media marketers on Twitter.

As for boundaries, this is how I handle it: Whenever I'm about to post something on FB, I'm asking myself if I'd tell that my friends (I know most of them personally) when I ran into them in real life. And yes, I'd tell you about my half naked neighbor if I ran into you (then again, we're not even FB friends ;-) ). Btw, have we met at the TVP09 party?

@Lisa: Right, there is not "the right" or "the one" way to communicate within social media. that's why it is so cool to be part of it. seeing how it develops. And the cool thing about blogging is the same ;) It is just my personal opinion, that I really really really feel ashamed when I read that someone just quit with his boyfriend or got injured while doing things I even don't wanna know that they exist...

As you already know I'm working in the business as well and do post personal stuff too - but you know, there's kind of a boundary...this point I that stops me from going to deep. It's like you won't take a stroll through the city and tell people you barely know what and how often you did last night...

This is where it comes @eranium: Sure I could only add close friends. But that's not what Social Media is for - at least in my opinion. I really enjoy getting in touch with people that are not my "real" friends (like both of you) and share knowledge, opinions, etc...

Honestly I know of course that there's more in life to complain about, that's for sure ;-) But from time to time one simply has to say what's jaring on ones nerves ;-)

the value of (shared) content is depending on it's context. since there is no such thing like an objective world it is possible that this shared content has different value for different people.

but let's not forget about the tons of advertising spam that you find in your newsfeed or twitter stream ;-) accept it or choose your friends and follower more carefully.

You better quit Facebook :D

Seriously, I think there's no such thing as "the right way" to communicate on Facebook/Twitter/whatever. Use it the way you wanna use it. Yes, I find those Farmville games annoying. But since I'm working in this business I'm fine with people spending their time with social media.

As for getting personal: I do post personal stuff on FB. Because I wanna keep in touch with friends I don't get to see that often (or those who live abroad). And I do still meet people in real life :-)
