When there is a crisis people, governments, organisations, companies and even technical inventions show their real potential. Or their bad face. Right now we face another disastrous tragedy with the people in Japan suffering from a devastating 8.9 magnitude earthquake and a terrible tsunami that not only killed people immediatly but also is responsible for critical problems at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The radioactive pollution could even reach Tokyo [...]

After starting quite a new life the last months I came across a lot of new connections, colleagues & friends. When being new to a job, neighbourhood or – like in my case – a country, it is quite logical that one tries to fit in or, at least, that one tries to make a good impression. This is when I came across an old problem, that I already wanted [...]

Noooo, no drugs. I really mean what I am saying. This post is about succeeding via failing. Fail = bad, right? No! Well yes, in it’s natural meaning it is something bad to fail. That’s why people on twitter tag bad or stupid actions with the #fail tag or that’s why the failblog is so popular. Even outside our web 2.0 world the word ‘fail`itself is quite common to discribe [...]

When talking to my friends and contacts online, I often come across profiles that do not match the real person at all. It is not, that the profile is fake. Not at all! But people tend to pimp their profiles in order to look cool, fresh, fit. Or at least they leave their young gun profile pic in it while acting quite adult – in ‘real`life. When asking them about [...]

Since I am just about to open a new chapter in terms of work &  life experience I thought this is a perfect moment to look back and forth and think about current developments. Furthermore I will hit the magic thirty next year. So one more good reason to recap and set new goals. So let’s set up a todo-list first. What I want to achieve or do before hitting [...]

Feedreader, Facebook, ICQ, Twitter, Blogs, Badoo, Orkut, Direct Message, Reply, Buzz, RSS, Fanpages, like, unlike, reply, myspace, netlog…. Great lyrics by Bonaparte (video above): “You know to much to much to much to much”. But actually I wouldn’t say you know – but you read to much to much to much to much… Most of us know this point where everything is simply to much, right? You open up your [...]

This is a topic a already mentioned before and what keeps me thinking for quite a long time now. I just had a discussion with a friend of mine who is not as much an internet nerd as I am, but who has experienced the same thing. And according to her it’s not only an online thing. And when thinking about, I’d say she’s right. But nevertheless I think online [...]

Since I am somehow disappointed by the service within the retail industry, let’s try it this way. I am looking for a new (or a good used) bike. A road bike. I was looking at quite a lot of sites (and big offline stores, but don’t talk about this one. they really suck in terms of service) and expected behavioral targeting to do the rest. But unfortunately it didn’t ;-) [...]

That’s why I love the world wide web.

Zweitens: Die Crew an Bord. [...]
